Question resolving root password using guest account

Im using suse

My friend remotely configure his pc with guest account using putty. Un fortunely he forgot the root password. How to resolve the root password without going to his pc coz it takes 5 hours ride. He will just remotely troubleshoot the root account using guest account.

lol.
If you think about it, it is actually a pretty stupid question.
You ask us if we can go into a linux box without having the password.(hacking the box)

that would mean that anyone if there was such a way of recovering the password, everyone could just own someone else his linux box.
