resolution or refresh rate problem shuts monitor off as i load linux

i installed redhat 9 today and as soon as i boot it the monitor shuts off. i think its some kind of a resolution or a refresh rate problem but i havent been able to sort it out. even while installing it gave me the same problem but i could do the installation by typing "linux lowres".

now i have no idea how to modify my resolution or refresh rate before the linux gets booted. i have a 15 inch monitor with standard features and a 32mb savage pro onboard agp card. can someone tell me whats exactly wrong and how do i sort it out ??

You will have to edit XFree's configuration file. If you get a command line interface with redhat, you can do it from there, if not download a Knoppix CD.
