Resolution Issues...

What's up with RH9 and display settings?? The first machine I installed RH9 on has a GeForce 4 video card, 512 MB RAM, etc..., and I can't display anything beyond 1024x768....Very odd. If I try and edit the X86 file it wigs out after the reboot. On this other machine right in front of me, I know for a fact the card & monitor can handle high resolutions, but when finsihing the installation and it asks me to pick a resolution, the highest offered is 800x600! WTF?

What about the machine running an ATI128 card? I had RH7.2 on these machines previously with no issues (High-res).....

I can not log into my distro of debian anymore, the screen is blurred so bad i can't see. i've tried changing it with crlt + - and all that to no avail. Is my distro stuffed? I've been assured that my monitor isn't broken (works in cursed windows)

Is your moniter set correctly?

I JUST fixed the same exact prob I was stuck in 800x600 my moniter was listed as unknown I changed it to a moniter of my make (my model isn't on the list) and restarted and it works:)

There are a couple of posts here with similar problems. Run either Xconfigurator for Red Hat of for Debian I'm not sure. Maybe it's XF86Setup.

I found some obscure post saying that it might be an issue withe the Intel845 chipset and to update the BIOS....Great, this should be fun.
