researching h ware

I'm trying to find compatible hware cards that will work with Suse . any ideas?

What sort of thing... video, io board, usb device, PCMCIA, TV card, something else?

Name what you are considering, and I am sure if someone has a positive or negative story about it they will post.

HW compatibility isn't mainly a distro but a Linux kernel thing. Besides that there's the LQ HCL http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/.

I'm looking at reusing my old cards and drives as much as possible.
I have a jazz and zip 100 scsi with adaptec interface card.
what I'd like to find is video drivers for an asus 7100 video/tuner card, and drivers for a creative sb128 sound card. I'm using a amd550 cpu. Yeah I know it's a dinosaur.

Linux is quite good with ancient HW so a quick grep in the kernel source should show if these are covered by any modules.

thanks, I'll try that.

Brand names like "Zip" and "Jazz" are easy to search for and will yield few results, OTOH "Adaptec" should turn up a lot of SCSI stuff and AFAIK ASUS doesn't make chip designs itself so if you know what chipset stuff uses (GeForce2 IIRC) it would be easier to look for.
