Unhappy Required the Correct BIOS setting for installing Red hat Enterprise 5 in my HP DC7900


Hi,

I have tried all the ways possible by changing settings in BIOS, changed the ROM, even the hard disk but nothing worked to install red hat 5 in my system... I tried to install in my laptop and it was done but not in my desktop.
I m using HP dc7900 convertible minitower. Please help me as I have to install.

I do not understand the problem. What are the errors that you see? Can you post the errors here?
Can you turn off the apic option and try again?

No. It did now work

There are no errors coming. Its just that after the first screen (to install in graphical mode press enter) .
When i press enter its loading a series of processes and its getting hanged.

You don't have to change any bios settings.

At exactly what point the installer hangs? (post the last lines)

What about trying the text mode install?

I tried text mode install but it dint work

The system is gettting hanged after the following line
ACPI: Assume Root bridge [\_SB_.PCI0] bus is 0

apic and acpi (both are different) tend to give issues sometimes. While installing Untangle I had this issue. Fedora had this issue once as well. This depends on the hardware.

you can use acpi=force option in the kernel and then boot.

Talking Hey ! It got solved

The problem got solved when i used pci=conf1 in the boot menu.... Thanks Guys
