Request for hardware diagnostic tool recommendation

Hi, can anyone recommend a good hardware diagnostic tool? I've found sisoft sandra quite useful in the past for windows; is there anything similar for linux? My distro is RH9 on an i686.

I have googled but there don't seem to be any obvious candidates. If there are any built in tools in linux can you let me know about them too (newbie here)?

Many thanks, reetep.

Depends on how detailed you need it :)

http://ezix.sourceforge.net/software/lshw.html would probably do
what you want ...

Besides that, you'll probably find all
you need to know in /proc ;)

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply Tinkster. I've installed lshw and checked it out. Looks like just the thing I was after, so thanks! I didn't know about /proc either, so you've been a real help.

Pleasure mate, and thanks for the feed-back :)

Sometimes one does wonder whether people
actually could make sense of what one said
if they never come back ;)

Cheers,
Tink
