Question Repository Reload Failed for some packages

i have a windows xp SPII box with internet connection and i boot the machine with Ubuntu 8.04.1 Live CD and from Synaptic Package Manger i enabled all the five options main, universe, etc. Then i try to Reload the Packages, i recd the foll: message.
"Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...6/Packages.bz2 Hash sum mismatch.
Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...6/Packages.bz2 Hash sum mismatch.
Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...es/sources.bz2 Hash sum mismatch
Some index file failed to download.they have been ignored or old ones used instead."
Pls somebody explains me what these lines mean and is it some system failure or is it due to my slow net connection or is it my system can not complete updating. If it is due to me using on Live CD, will it occur if i install on my harddisk and if so, can it be remedied and how?

Hi.

You'll have to install it to make the updates or any other changes stick.

Cheers, Glenn
