My OS is Ubuntu 14.04
cpu is AMD 64 quad core
Motherboard is Asus K8V Se
The system worked fine with Ubuntu 13.10
Any other info I'll be glad to supply

Hello
Reinstalled Ubuntu 14.04
Sound has returned
Closed computer with suspend last night.
Awaken from suspend by hitting a key.
Computer awakens from suspend opens to desktop as it was when suspended.
Exception has no keyboard or mouse.
After about 30 seconds computer switched to opening splash screen, asking for
password.
Entered password a flash saying 'system program problem detected', did not stay on desktop.
After several minutes the computer re-cycled and again flashed 'system problem detected' no mouse or keyboard.
Waited for 10 minutes to see if the computer would re-cycled again, did not.
shut the computer off and re-started again, the above 'problem detected' flashed several times is now steady.
Is now steady in middle of screen asking if I would like to report the problem.
Answered yes, flash switched to
' Sorry Ubuntu 14.04 has experienced an internal error.'
'if you notice further problems, try re-starting the computer'
selected 'Send an error report to help for this problem'
selected 'Yes include display manager'

What can I do to help?
Thanks Cliff

The bios is flashed on bootup you have to read the instructions for putting on cd or usb unless you have asus board with e-z flash, which allows you to enter location of file after bootup & going to flash mode.

Since my last post I found Bios-repair-disk at Source forge and ran it.
This helped some.
Suspend still soes not work but at least sound returns now when I restart.
A little up date. Still cannot use suspend.
When waking suspend up the desktop comes up with password splash. When selecting the password the mouse freezes, keyboard freezes. After about 30 sec the computer recycles. when the desktop returns
keyboard works enter password desktop returns only my desktop picture no unity. I then have to shut the computer off with the off button and restart the computer from cold start.
