removing umbuntu from dual boot system

have xp on one hard drive and umbuntu on another. want to remomove umbuntu and keep xp on this computer. presently using grub for dual boot

Boot the computer using the XP CD, go into recovery mode and type "fixmbr". That'll replace GRUB with the XP boot manager so when you boot it'll go straight into XP.

Thanks Total-MAdMaN, I was looking for this answer.

After following Total-MAdMaN's instructions you can then use any of the standard partition tools (fdisk, Gparted, etc) to remove the unwanted Linux partition(s).

If you no longer have the the XP CD, you can also restore the MBR using the install-mbr utility found on Knoppix, and perhaps other, live CDs.

EDIT: Apologies ... The previous post wasn't showing when I started.

i do not get why you are apologizing for not seeing another post....there is the original, total-madman's post which you reference, and another person just thanked him.
