Removing Packages from RHEL 6 DVD

I am creating a custom RHEL disk with a ks file and custom labels. I know how to do that...my issue is that it is 3G. What I'd like to do is remove some of the unnecessary packages, but I'm unsure of a few things.

1.) What packages can I remove
2.) How do I rebuild the repository after the packages have been removed.

According to a few websites I need to add entries/remove entries from the comps.xml file, which appears to be encrypted now.

I'd appreciate any help on this - links instructions information etc.

A question
Are you using RHEL 6.4 With the copyrighted ! and trademarked ! graphics and logos
as in redistributing red hats Intellectual property without a contract from red hat to do so ?

if so you could be in very big legal trouble
-- contact a lawyer

You might want to use CentOS instead of red hat and just make a custom "spin"

if just for your own single install
contact red hat tech support
you do have the required support contract ? right ?

with out knowing what you NEED
there is no way to answer that
if you do not need a GUI then leave out xorg and gnome firefox and every program that uses a gui

Yes we have support and licenses. All we are doing is removing packages that we do not need to make the iso smaller. We even had a RedHat consultant here to show us how to set all of this up, however I was not present when he made the changes and wanted to know how he did it. I figured it out. We are not redistributing the software and are aware of the legal ramifications in doing so.

People here tend to have the answer faster and give more detailed answers than redhat support.

That is a lot more clear

this is for fedora but it apply's to RHEL as well
http://spins.fedoraproject.org/about
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Spins...reating_a_Spin
-- the two above are a bit light on details , so...
http://serverfault.com/questions/360...ra-centos-isos

a SL6 forum post linked to
using "live cd creator
http://www.livecd.ethz.ch/build.html

what is included is dependent on the needs

if you do not need say --- Bluetooth support remove that before making a new iso image

or for say RHEL installed on a server with no monitor then
gnome , xorg, firefox, are not needed
the development tools might be needed until it is set up
but those can be removed before making the new iso if you will not be needing them
