Removing eth0 from startup

I am using a wireless card so I don't need the eth0 to startup evertime I boot linux. How do I make the eth0 not start during bootup? Everytime I turn on the computer it says it failed to start it up because there is no cord connected. It isn't affecting anything with the computer it just brings up the screen showing you exactly what is starting. I can activate the card later through the network connections anyway right?

this might work, as root or su -, open

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

it should look something like this

DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=none
ONBOOT=yes
NETWORK=10.0.1.0
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
IPADDR=10.0.1.27
USERCTL=no

edit this line

ONBOOT=yes

to

ONBOOT=no

honestly if it's not hurting anything, i'd just leave it alone.
good luck.

go to he system settings-->server settings---->services

close the network service and save and exit
next time ur network devices will not be started during bootup

u can later activate it by
service network start
or from services section as done above

regards
