remove rpm


How do i remove a rpm is it rpm -e?

exactly, but not the full package name. E.g to install gaim:

rpm -Uvh gaimxxxi386.rpm

Now, to remove, it's only:

rpm -e gaim

That what i doing rpm -e but i getting a error message.

Which message? Are you running as root? Only root can add/remove programs. To become root, type su at the console, then use the rpm command

[root@localhost syntax]# rpm -e rh9.ymessenger-1.0.4-1.i386.rpm
error: package rh9.ymessenger-1.0.4-1.i386.rpm is not installed

Cool. So basically, to remove it should be only:

rpm -e ymessenger

you just need to type the full package name when installing something:

rpm -Uvh rh9.ymessenger-1.0.4-1.i386.rpm
