In posts #8 & 10, he claims to have already done that. From the info I could get from him, I believe his CD drive may be defective, although I still don't know if he has a second drive installed, or if he tried booting the other PC with the CD to make sure the CD is bootable and not corrupted...

My tuppence worth!

How old is the PC? Is it possible that the BIOS is so old that it doesn't offer boot from CD? Does the machine have a floppy drive?

How did SUSE get installed?

In a last resort perhaps booting to a DOS floppy with CD ROM support will let him run setup from the XP CD without the need to boot from it.

I have read those posts and the first (post 8 by your account), he is looking for a boot from cd option within the bootloader instead of the bios.

As far as post 10, He says he knows this is done through the BIOS, which is right. I am not sure of his comfort level with linux and BIOS level changes.

Iler,

are have you tried all the function keys as soon as the compute comes on? Do you get any resemblance of a set up menu?
