remote install floppy disk?

ok, so I am trying to install Whitebox over the network because the cd rom drive doesnt work

from what i gather i need to load the computer with a bootdisk

this is what i have done to make the boot disk:
first i format it with a ext3 filesystem
then i read on a website to do this:
/sbin/mke2fs /dev/fd0
so i did. (even when i didnt do this the result is still the same)
then i get the bootdisk.img on the same floppy by using this comman:
dd if=/mnt/cdrom/images/bootdisk.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=1440k
so then i have my boot disk right?
i put it in the computer i want to remotley install linux to.
but i get an error telling me to replace the disk and hit anykey.

what disk do i use? am i doing something wrong? where can i get a wrtie up on this network install?
