Remember Forever forgets pretty soon

I am running Mint 14 and whenever I access my Network, which is made up of Widows machines, it asks me for a password and gives me 3 options. The last is 'Remember Forever'. This is the option I check.

The system remembers the password for that session, however after I reboot Mint I need to enter the password again. Is it possible to have it remember the password after a reboot? Or should this 'Remember forever' option work and I have something incorrectly set up?

Many thanks for your time
Tim

It asks for password because the shares probably are mounted with only root permission. Mint uses sudo to perform root/admin tasks, and at reboot the password cache for that purpose is cleansed as a matter of security policy. I don't tick "Remember", neither "Forever", but you can make your choice, depending on personal taste and condition.

It is a matter of policy and frequent asking for password is the default. You can change or eliminate the need for sudo (password) by changing the ownership and permission of mounted shares.

Hope that helps. Good luck.
