reiserfs -> ext3
 

Just upgraded a server from redhat 7.3 to redhat 9. On 7.3 we used reiserfs but now i want to change this to ext3.

Do i only have to edit fstab, or do i need to do more???

mke2fs -j /dev/hdx

But do a backup of that partition as all data will **likely** be gone afterwards ;)

Not that I'm aware of, you need an ext3 filesystem on there in order to mount one ;) And unless you know of a tool (or can locate one, www.freshmeat.net http://sf.net ) that can convert from Reiser to ext3 without data loss, I'm afraid that's ab00t it.

Nope, once a partition is configured for ReiserFS, it's impossible to change it's Format without losing Data.

ok, than i guess i just have to stay with reiserfs.
