as the subject says, due a grub error, i reinstalled windows XP (i needed the formatt anyways), but now to boots directly into windows, how do i get grub working again? i rember reading somthing about how you install linux first because windows writes over some file?
any help would be grand =]
You probably had Grub installed in the Master Boot Record, and XP probably overwrote it. You'll probably have to setup Grub again. I use LILO, so I can't tell you how to do it manually. Your distribution should have a tool to set it up.
XP - like all windows - takes the hard drive first possible MBR. Who knows why so one way to avoid that is to let Doz have the first partition (and MBR). Then Grub on the second and that should help.
