reinstall windows without removing linux


HELP!
I am having both Linux Fedora Core6 and Windows XP.:-)
But Win XP got corrupted yesterday.:-(
I am a newbie to linux.
I want to reinstall Win XP without removing linux.
Some one help me. Explain in simple terms please....

Install Windows normally.
Make sure windows targets the windows partition - it's part of the install.
Restore GRUB to MBR afterwards.

Use the search function on LQ to look for "install windows after linux".

Or, better yet, rejoice! You are now free. Dance and be happy.

You can install windows in linux,they are all the same.......
Restore GRUB will make it more easy...

Thiyagaraj, Yes you can reinstall windows XP, it will not recognize your FC partition, just tell it to reinstall on the XP partition.

It most likely will rerwrite your MBR (Master Boot Record) this will break Grub and your computer will then boot from hard drive directly to windows. Don't worry though it should not harm your FC partition.

So to get Grub back you will need to boot your FC install disc and re-run grub to repair it. you may want to search for repairing grub on LQ.

Yep - should take it as a sign...

While I'm here and waiting for a response from OP, I should point out that FC6 is obsolete now. Current version is fedora 8, when fedora 9 is out, f7 will become obsolete. And so it goes.
