reinstall grub . . .

I have gnu/linux libranet 2.8.1 on my hard drive. then when I reinstall windows, I can only boot windows.
linux boot partition is available and grub exist on it. I try to reinstall grub by use this command:
grub-install
then it says that grub install successfully, but I can't use grub.
can you help me how can I fix it?

grub-install /dev/hda

here (hda means here my hard is connected as primary master, according to your disk drive u want to change this parameter, hda or hdb or hdc etc).

I did it before.
grub is installed on my hard. but it don't run. I can only boot windows.

note: I can boot gnu/linux with my bootable cd.

hi !

I think u installed not in the MBR while u installing the OS.

go in to the rescue mode..

*) linux rescue

after u enter into the rescue mode,check where ur hard disk is connected..
*) fdisk -l
that will list the partitions.
then give
grub-install /dev/hda

(or)
grub-install /dev/hdb
