Have you set the upload speed under Tools--> Configure Ktorrent--> Network?

Setting speed to ZERO should allow for the maximum available speed. To limit the speed you have to set some value explicitly. This can be set separately for both up- and download speed. I rather think that the torrent dispatcher on the server controls the amount of download traffic according to the amount that you are willing to share via uploading. Downloading torrents, especially movies (sounds a bit illegal, doesn't it), is prone to significant differences in terms of network traffic.
