Regarding talk command

Hi all,

I wanna use talk command to talk among my friends in our organization
All the people logs in as root to the server, could some some one guide me how can i "talk" to specific person using talk command
I tried by using the terminal number as below

talk -ttyname /dev/pts/1
but I got the following error

"[No connection yet]

Error on read from talk daemon: Connection refused. Press any key... ]"

Could some one guide me how to talk to specific user either using IP address of his machine or terminal number

Thanks,
Basling.
