reformatted windows-lost grub
so i wanted to clean windows and make it my gaming OS and that was it. so i reformatted my windows hard drive and reinstalled it. now i have 2 problems.
1-i dont have access to my second hard drive that had copies of all the stuff i wanted to keep. 2-grub doesnt launch so i cant boot into linux anymore. you may not be able to help me with 1, but can anyone offer some advice on 2? |
i take it you don't have a grub boot disk, so if you have a live CD, you could boot to that and then reinstall grub (# /sbin/grub-install /dev/hda - i still only use lilo, but i think that's right). with lilo you'd have to chroot to your system partition, but i don't think you have to with grub (if you do: # chroot /dev/hda5 /bin/bash). maybe you can even boot from a fedora cd like you can with slack, not sure.

is there a place i can get a small diskette file that will boot grub? or where can i find a live CD? i installed fedora and grub with my first run.
