RedHat/Windows XP Dual Boot Problem
Hi everybody,
I just recently starting playing around with Linux RedHat.
I succeeded in getting a Windows XP/RedHat dual boot working. However, I then reinstalled Windows XP and it stopped working.
After the reinstall, linux booted fine, but the when the Windows option on grub was selected it promptly restarted GRUB (by the looks of it)
The two OSes are on different hard drives.
If I try running linux rescue and reinstalling GRUB the problem returns, I am able to boot Linux but not Windows.
If possible would someone be able to give me a little run through of how to re-install GRUB with in this environment.
Currently Windows is booting fine, and I can't access Linux without doing something to GRUB that will stop Windows booting.
Hope I have described the situation adequately.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Cameron

from my experience you have to reinstall redhat... it seems to be that windows will always mess up grub or lilo when installed. when installing on an dual boot it is necessary to install windows first. Im not an expert, there may be a way around it but im not sure. Backup your files and reinstall redhat... or try a newer dist.. such as Fedora (sponsered by redhat).

So what happens when you choose linux from grub menu. Or you don't have it in the menu anymore?
Also, next time you have reinstall Win, unplug linux drive during installation. And Win should be on the secondary or a slave drive.
