redhat version


I have a server , that is running Redhat 4.6 , the server is installed by our resigned colleauge , can advise how can I know the server is 32bit or 64 bit server ? i know /etc/redhat-release can check the version , but how can i know it is 32bit or 64bit ? thx

Run uname -a
If it doesn't say something like "x86_64 GNU/Linux", it's not 64 bit.
Presuming you have it on an x86 Athlon type system, not an Itanium or something. Itanium says IA64 IIRC.

see /proc/cpuinfo
#more /proc/cpuinfo
in flags section , if you found 'lm' that means your cpu is 64 bit(long mode) otherwise it is 32 bit.
