I have a fresh install of RedHat 9 configured as a web server. I plan on using sendmail as my default email server. With default setting out of the box sendmail should work correctly... right?? I have configured the basics for my server domains are setup correctly ips binded correctly users are setup right. i can restart xinetd fine, sendmail fine, but i am unable to "telnet localhost 110" I have no firewall setup on the server and the pop3 service is not running via ps -A, or netstat -bla bla. Hi!

I got pop3 going on my Rh9 system by downloading Qpopper (a free pop3 program) and configuring, compiling and installing that. If I remember right it comes with a nifty little howto that will have you up and running on port 110 in no time. Just google for it and download.
