Redhat 9, apache + frontpage not serving pages except admin page
 

Migrating from windows 2000 to Linux, lots to learn! I followed the instructions from joshie's Apache-Frontpage Project but can only access my site from computers in my house where the server is located. Server is on a seperate IP from my home network (IP address is 1 digit off). Funny thing is that the frontpage admin page on port 8090 is accessable from anywhere. I can't seem to figure out why port 8090 works but port 80 dosn't. Any ideas? Thanks!

IpTables blocking it by default?

Try turning off the service and seeing if you get through. Might also be a permissions issue with the www root folder.

I turned off ip6tables but still can't connect. Permissions on web root are 755.
Any easy way to see if a site works remotely? What I'm doing now is SSH to a remote machine then telnet back to my server. I connect on port 8090 and timeout on port 80. Seems like there would be an easier way to verify.

is there anything that would block port 80 other than my ISP? I added a 'Listen 8099' to httpd.conf and that IS accessable from outside my house. I'm on Cox Business Services which should not block my port 80. I'll have to call tomorrow to find out. Seems if they blocked it I would not be able to access it from my other computers on a different IP. I did a " lsof -i tcp:80' and confirmed that httpd was indeed listening on port 80.

Well maybe you overlooked it?

Doublechecked that wasn't the issue. Added a 'Listen 88' to httpd.conf. It works. Seems it's only port 80 that's not working (except from here). I'm starting to think it's being blocked, though I know it was up when I was running windows 2000 last month.
