redhat 9 and no mouse

I've just installed Redhat 9 on my computer. The install went smoothly, but upon first run, the mouse does not work. I have a PS/2 compatible USB mouse (with the adapter on it), Microsoft optical.

The reason I post for such a simple issue is that I have never run Linux before, so I don't know where to look to solve this problem, and wouldn't know how to get there without a mouse.

Thank you for any help.

Did you try it as a usb mouse? Kudzu should catch it on re-booting when it's changed and re-configure the mouse.

You might see what happens if you command as root:

mouseconfig

It works in RH7.3
