redhat 9.0 gnome--starting programs automatically

How does one go about having programs and/or services automatically start after bootup? For example I want SAMBA to run after boot up. Is there a way to do in in the Gnome GUI?

Thank you

In the Software forum, there is a thread on Samba. In it is a link to a very extensive documentation of Samba. You will probably find what you need there. If you can't find the thread, do a search for Samba.

that Services applet is Redhat specific, and exists in both kde and gnome in redhat (the command is "redhat-config-services"), other distros provide their own tools, because the initialization process is sometimes different between distros(eg. Slackware doesn't use sys-V style).

howzit again

I forgot to mention if u want to enable or disbale services use this cmd chkconfig. Man chkconfig to view options:

1. chkconfig --list list to list services that is on or off for each runlevel
2. chkconfig --level 2345 (service) off
3. reboot

the second piont set s the service to off for runlevel 2345 but remember to reboot dot this to take effect.
