Exclamation Redhat 8.0 Not Booting

I have a Redhat 8.0 server that runs my web page, email, and firewall. It was built and configured by a previous employee and has been running for about 3 months. There was however no backup in place so i tried to connect it to my Novell 4.11 server and setup a cron job to copy the data to the netware server. While in the process of installing the ipxutils and libc rpm's. My system became somewhat non responsive. I tried logging out and back in, when it logged out it never came back to a gui login. I only had the text/dos based login. When attempting to login as root I received the error "Init: Id "1" spawning too fast disabled for 5 minutes". This kept popping up about every 5 minutes and I could not do anything. I then did a cold shutdown. After restarting the system now hangs at "Ext3-fs mounted file system with ordered data mode" and "Freeing unused kernel memory: Freed 200k". I am able to boot off CD into rescue mode but am not sure were to go from there. I can use fdisk -l to see my partitions. Any help would be great as I am without email or my web page. Thank You.

this doesn't look good, the libc may have been broken during install or the hard disk has problems.
Try re-installing the libc in the rescue mode, or is there like a "repair/upgrade" option on the redhat CD?

if you get it working, immediately backup your data, it maybe a hard disk problem and the hard disk may break down the next day.

Do a search of these forums for "respawning too fast". This has come up quite a few times, but I don't remember offhand what the solution was...
