Redhat 7.2 printing problems canon

Hi,

I'm trying to get my printer working with Redhat 7.2. I used printconf and selected it from the list but when I print a test page nothing happens. Same thing when I use lpr, nothing happens and no error message given.

Printer is a Canon Multipass C5500 connected locally to my parallel port. It works fine in my windows partition on the same computer

Also how do I check if my parallel port is functioning properly?

Thanks for your help,
Luchador aka
