Red HatNetwork kernel update problem

Greetings,

I recently attempted to update my RH kernel from version 2.4.20-8 to 2.4.20-9 via the Red Hat Network "up2date" utility. Everything seemed to download fine, but at one point during the upgrade, the up2date utility stopped responding all together. I let it run for quite some time (overnight) but eventually, I had to kill the process. Upon reboot, the system indicated that there were still some packages that needed installing and went about doing so.

Unfortunately, however, something seems to have been missed. When I check the "Critical Information" tab of the Red Hat Network Alert tool, it states:

"Your system is currently running kernel 2.4.20-8, but the newest installed kernel is 2.4.20-9. It is recommended that you reboot at the first opportunity to test this new kernel."

But, as you probably have guessed, when I reboot I continue to get this message. I haven't got the foggiest idea how to make the 2.4.20-9 kernel, 'stick'. Any help is appreciated!

Woah. I expected at least someone would have an idea about where I should start troubleshooting this problem. Crazy.
