Red Hat Installation prob.
Hello Red Hat wizards,
I,ve installed Red Hat 9 as a dual install with Windows XP using text option since I,ve been unable to install it in Graphical mode.My moniter stopped functioning.I don,t know why?Having installed in grahical mode, now whenever I turn my PC on there appears a screen with two boot options one with Windows & other with Linux.Since I selected Linux as default, the boot process goes on & after a while a screen appears where the last line is: <0> Kernal panic:attempted to kill init. Then it stops there & no further advancement goes on.No key of key works here.Any hint from any body,d be a great help. Secondly plz. let me know whether I can divert to Graphical mode now? I,ve HPD2385 moniter & VG card S3 PRO Savage KM 133. Is there a problem with my monitor or VGA card? Can this issue be resolved namely can I be able to use Graphical mode? I,ve tried to install Mandrake version & there,s no prob. with monitor but my mouse stops working there.Plz. help me resolve this prob. too. Thanks in advance for any potential help. |
Kernel panic is a booting problem not a VGA card one.
You may try to change the kernel parameter while booting linux as well as post the /boot/grub/grub.conf file here. However I myself suggest installing the newer RH enterprise edition or Fedora core. |
