Red Hat Ent. Linux "AS"/"ES"
What is the difference between a Red Hat Ent Linux "ES" and "AS"???
And which is the latest and the most stable? |
Hi.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 is current. WS, ES, & AS are just different options, the main difference between the three is the support that you get from Red Hat when you purchase. They are all as stable as one another. >Craig |
"AS" means Advanced Server, but what about "ES"??? what does that stand for?
The Red Hat documentation does not tell me what does ES mean. "ES" can't mean Enterprise Server as its stated as Red Hat Enterprise Server ES |
Enterprise Server.
And the question about stable, well, both are stable. It all depends on how you administer it, load applications that might not be stable, etc. Both run the same kernel, just different versions by default, etc. You can change that by recompiling a kernel to suit your own needs. |
Is "AS" considered an Enterprise Server too??
Because that also has it stated as "Red Hat Enterprise Server AS" or "Red Hat Ent Linux AS 3.0" |
RHEL3 = Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3
AS = Advanced Server ES = Enterprise Server WS = Work Station I'm guessing "Red Hat Enterprise Server AS" is a typo. :) Craig |
