Red Hat 9 Freezing on install

I try to install Red Hat 9 on my other machine, and when I try to install in text mode it locks up when it is installing DEV-3.3.2-5
when I try to install in graphics mode, it locks up when it is installing something with XFree86

any help would be appreciated.

can you give us an overview of your hardware? also anything that might be unique about your system, such as overclocking, vintage or cutting edge stuff, or non-standard configurations (i chose to make my old cd-rom master and my hard drive slave).

at least cpu/motherboard/harddrive would be helpful as a start, and did you purchase the distro or download it?
