Exclamation Red Hat 8.0 - newb - Gui ?!!


My problem :



cooor, ive spent bloody ages instaling red hat 8.0 linux, I reboot, and I get a command prompt... I want a gui !!!

grub loader has hat 8.0, it get selected, loads of commands all come up, nice.

I eventualy get to a login command prompt :

I tap in root - a friend told me to.

my password - duh.

and startx, I believe that ' starts ' the gui ?

then I get an ' io error ' WTF ?!

cna somebody please tell me how to get into the gui ?

oh, ive fun xf86config all seemed to go ok.. er. I think.

PLEASE help !

To get a gui rather than a shell, you have to select that option near the end of the install. What type of install are you doing?

Please don't sign on as root. You should almost NEVER sign on as root. Try signing on a your "normal" user, then do the startx thing.
