Unhappy Red Hat 6.3 to 7.1 upgrade problems

So, I was running Red Hat 6.3, and all went great, but I wanted more...

I upgradede to RH 7.1, cause 9 wonīt run in my old PC, and everything went fine till I typed "startx".

I tried the X config, but it says my graphic board S3 Trio 32, isnīt supported, and X wonīt run, though it runs on RH 6.3.

It gives me a "640x680 mode not found" error.

What can I do?

Can I upgrade everything but X? will newr programs still run, or do I really have to settle for RH 6.3?

Thanks for any help at all...

Check your XFree config with the old one if you can: it should be using the "s3" driver. Else reconfigure X11 using Xconfigurator.

or do I really have to settle for RH 6.3?
No, nyet, hayir, nein, non. It's an utterly obsolete release, but as you've read the RHL 7/8 releases will become unsupported starting 2003/12, and RHL 9 reaches EOL 2004/04, IIRC.

I'd suggest researching if Fedora/other distro could, then open up a new thread, post your HW specs and ask ppl to comment on it. Could help.
