RED HAT 5 - cmd line. With a static IP, what file tells the puter what the DG is?

What file in what directory tells the server what the Default Gateway is? I know the server starts up and gets the IP from /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 but how does it know what to use for default gateway? Thanks.

You ought to look at google.

Incidentally, I think you mean RHEL5, not Red Hat 5, and please don't use words like 'puter'.

Oh, and wikipedia is also a good place to look, should google let you down.
