recover from grub/system corruption

Hi ppl,

HELP !!!!!!!!

I have a PC that was setup with Windows XP, I have installed Redhat 9 which inturn installed the GRUB bootloader.

All was working fine, got redhat set up exactly as i want it then i had a message that the tmp partition is full.

Ok i thought i will use PM8 in Windows XP to resize the partition. ( Stop laughing ! ) Well bad move, I started PM8 and it just gave me error #114 and wouldnt open. OK i thought I'll do it the redhat way.

I rebooted and was faced with the Grub screen. So i rebooted with the redhat recovery floppy and cd1 and followed the recover option. This gave me an error stating that the SWAP partition may not have been mounted properly and no option but to reboot. So i tried running grub-install, and that cannot find a /boot dir..?

Well next i booted with a 98 boot disk and FDISK /MBR which got me back into windows but now i am stuck.

Is there a utility that can recover the GRUB loader with the correct configuration of the drives and save me 2 days re-installing Redhat.

please help me TIA

It's possible you will need to re-install. However, you might read the following and see if it can help.

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...TLOADER-RESCUE

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...ual/ref-guide/
Look at the section on Boot Loaders
