Recover from a crash
I had Redhat 8 installed on one hard drive and suffered a crash. I tried everything I could think of, but finally resorted to re-installing on another hard drive so I could get some files from the old system.
I've re-installed and everything works fine. However, when I connect the original hard drive as a secondary master, the computer appears to boot from that system again, and I get the same errors I had before I reinstalled. Why is this happening? How do connect the old hard drive to retrieve my files? Thanks for your help! |
Clarification: Here is the error I receive after adding the second hard drive:
Ext2-fs: ide(22,2): couldn't mound because of unsupported optional features (4) mount: error 22 mounting ext2 pivotroot: pivot_root(/sysroot, /sysroot/initrd) failure: 2 umount /initrd/proc failed: 2 Where do I go from here? Thanks! :) |
are the "jumpers" on the second hard drive set on "slave"??
