Recompiling or Updating the Kernell


Opensourcerers,

Please correct me if Recompiling or Updating is different when regarding to Linux Kernell...
but all I want to know is how to install the new version of the Kernell because recently I've downloaded a patch from www.kernell.org... and one more thing, is it the patch that is all that I need? Thanx!

please help me and thanx in advance...
