recompile the kernel..?..
Hi there,
I have Fedora 5 running on a Thinkpad laptop.
I'm struggling to get the wireless working, so I installed ndsiwrapper,
and for this purpose I had to download the kernel source (it was not present)
So the ndsiwrapper is installed, the driver installed but still no working wireless.
I read that a possible error is to have the ndsiwrapper compiled with a different kernel version,
and so it is: I'm booting 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 while I downloaded the source for 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5
so here are my questions:
1. should I download the source to the same kernel I'm running (2.6.15-1.2054_FC5), or
is it better to recompile the kernel from the new source (2.6.17-1.2187_FC5)
2. How do I recompile the kernel.
As you already see I'm very new to dealing with linux....
Thanks
