what kind of linux distro that strongly recommended for a p4 with 512 mb RAM and 32 mb VGA?

i find it a good pc. however, if you don't want the "effects" you can try Lubuntu

This question has been asked here numerous times so one thing you could do is use the Search function on the right of this page and search for 'Linux on older computers'. Googling that will also give you a number of sites such as the one below at distrowatch. You haven't given any indication of what you are planning to use it for so more specific advice will be hard to give:

Once you have decided on a distribution, then I recommend you choose a "lightweight" desktop environment such as LXDE or Xfce for best performance on your old computer.

The P4 can cope with anything, and the 512MB with many distros (but by no means all). You don't want one that says that the minimum requirement is 512MB, because the more free memory you have, the more responsive the computer will be. Also the minimum tends to get larger every year!

Currently recommending 384MB or less are

There are others, but these combine user-friendliness with reliability.
