Recommended file names for ssl keys and certs

It is my understanding that a separate ssl key and certificate is required for each domain name since when creating the certificate, the FQDN must be entered (reference http://www.akadia.com/services/ssh_t...rtificate.html). Is this correct?

If so, why not name the key and certificate using the domain name? It seems obvious to me, however, every post and tutorial I have read does not do so, and I feel I must be missing something.

Thanks

I've made them in the past using FQDN.key and FQDN.crt

You have complete flexibility over the physical name of these files.
