Rebuilding pcmcia service.

Hi. I was reading this link, and the note on the bottom says to make sure and rebuild the pcmcia service. I know this is somewhat outdated,so I was wondering if I still need to rebuild it,and how I would go about doing that. I haven't heard the term"rebuild a service". Also,I was wondering how to change the display resolution through the because I plan on using fluxbox once I get everything up and running, and I don't recall seeing a resolution option in its menu. Thanks.

EDIT:I think it would be better to rephrase my question by saying how do you rebuild a service in general?I have never heard that term used before.

Hi,

#1. rebuild. I think it means compile again to suit new kernel configuration. BUT, I think that PCMCIA is outdated. (At least, my penguin used to have it, but not any more)

#2. resolution. My penguin does not have fluxbox. Can you change with config file for X?

Happy Penguins!!

Yes,I was thinking it might mean recompile also. But,I'm not sure what my install of slack is using. I know it scans for pcmcia cards, and pcmcia support is complied into the kernel, but I'm not sure if it still uses that service. I tried editing xorg.conf, but no resolution ws listed,do I need to edit a different file?
