real player not working in FC6


I installed real player in FC6 but even after clicking on the short cut it does not open up.what to do?

How did you install realplayer??? From where??? Be persice

Personally I would install mplayer and/or xine instead, they work better and are not memory / resource hogs as realplayer.

yum install mplayer mplayer-fonts mplayerplug-in xine

Also get and install the codecs from here: http://rpm.pbone.net/

mplayer-codecs-20061022-1
mplayer-codecs-extra-20061022-1

You are probably missing the libstdc++5 library which is provided by the compat-libstdc++-33 package.

Where to get mplayer or Xine

I am completely new to linux. I want your help to install mplayer or xine as was told to me earlier. where to get them? what to do ? please guide me!

Use this guide. Its for Fedora Core 5, but should work fine for FC6.

I want to know more and learn more in the linux platform. I want to know more about its specialities and things that need to be picked up as good skills. please help me!

What is so hard about typing???; yum install mplayer xine
