Reading other partitions from Mandrake 10

I hope I don't get blasted for asking this extremely Newbie question, but I am an extreme Newbie; I have been playing with Linux for about 2 hours.

I installed Mandrake 10 on a different drive from Windows XP

How do I go about reading the partitions on the other drive from Linux so I can share files between the two OS's?

Any help will be appreciated.

Geoff

I am not sure if Mandrake comes with ntfs support... you can try

#mount -t ntfs /dev/<ntfs volume> <mountpoint>

if that does not work, install the appropriate rpm from the site below

Not to be a smarty pants, but alot of those newbie questions has been asked a bunch of times. Try searching for these type of questions first, you will find lots of answers.

And ntfs filesytem still does not fully support write access. If you have a fat32 partition then you can share files with linux & windows.

sorry, I am newbie to this list as well. However, I didn't think it was an inappropriate question considering I am in the Newbie forum.

Thanks for your help and suggestion.

Geoff
