The best way to do this is to make root an alias to your regular user so that mail for root will get to you.

Edit /etc/mail/aliases (maybe it is /etc/aliases on your system?) and edit so root looks like:
Code:
root: axelmang
Assuming that 'axelmang' is the name of your regular user account.

thanx for the reply

I have already edited the /etc/aliases file and made that change. The question is how to get this mail from thunderbird in Local Folders or whatever...

If you use a command line mail client eg mutt, pine, nail or whatever your prefer then can you see root's mail arrving in your mail file?

If so you then need a pop3 or imap server running on your box that thunderbird can connect to and retrieve the mail from your system account to put it in thunderbird's own mail store

Can you please give me more details of how to set up the server and how to make thunderbird read the mail from the server? Or can you point me to a direction where I can read about it?

Thanx a lot
