A newbie question - I have mandrake 10.1, what should I do to transfer data to and fro from my USB pen drive??

try this out.
mkdir /mnt/msd
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/msd

if it complains about a file system add -t vfat after mount.
if that doesn't work replace sda1 with sda2 or just sda, but if none of those work, you might need to configure your kernel to support scsi and usb devices i'm affraid.

Mandrake should probably auto-detect the USB Mass Storage device... SuSE 9.1 and higher do...

At any rate, USB drives mount under SCSI emulation. So make sure that all your SCSI stuff is installed...
