re-mapping broken keyboard key F1 - move to F11

I am using ubuntu 12.04 on my compaq laptop and now the F1 key does not respond anymore. It is very important for starting my laptop as I have harddrive problems and in order to start I always have to press the F1 key first.
I just tested it with an external keyboard and it works then, so to avoid buying a new keyboard I would like to remap F1 and move it to F11 which works fine.
Can you help me please how to do that?
