Razor Krakon Headphones

Hi Guys,
I do hope I have not put this in the wrong section box. I definitely want to install a Linux system on my pc, but each time I do, I am not able to use my quite expensive Razor Krakon Headphones. Well to be honest, me being a Pensioner, I did think these were expensive. Could anyone please explain how a Newbie might be able to use these headphones on Linux, with out me having to actually go out and buy a completely new set which would be compatible with Linux. I am using a Windows 7 system at the moment.

Look forward to any replies.

Thank you.

I sometimes find the sections a bit confusing to. At 18 posts in however, I think the mods will forgive you so no worries.

Well true, they are more expensive than ear buds... but I bet you look cool as hell with them on.

This is going to be a generic answer because "Linux" is a broad category of software stacks. If you pick a Linux distro (CentOS, Arch, Fedora, Ubuntu, Slackware...etc) we can help you with more detail on exactly how-to install these headphones.
Your initial problem is simple. It's a USB resources, it has to connect to the audio driviers with it's own drivers and it has to be chosen as the source for your sound system. Different distros have different way of accomplishing those three things but effectivley, they all do the same thing.
The only issue I can see with this model of headphone is if it requires a proprietary driver for some of it's functionality. Did you get a CD with these or were they strictly "plug and play"?

Plug and play it seems to me.

type in a terminal

Code:

alsamixer
after hooking them up and booting up your linux box.

What your terminal should look like. Arrow keys and F keys are your friends in this for volume adjustment

I probably had more trouble when I had to figure out pulseaudio being needed to get my bluetooth skull speaker going in Linux.

Edit: Ubuntu 10.04 seems a bit long in the tooth (deceased). But what ever trips your trigger, I always say.

Some more sound advice.

I figured I'd post this since I see Ubuntu 10.04 in your posting profile.

Analog?
Well, definitely less cool however easier to do
Thanks Rocket

BTW, does alsamixer work on Ubuntu? I'm always hesitant to drive people at the CLI when I don't know what they'll find there...

Yeah. Especially on the older ones like 10.04 before they made the push to go to pulseaudio instead and systemd.

In fact. I still do the Ubuntu Tango on a couple of boxes. Spinoff version like Linux-Lite.

Alsa Mixer comes up fine on it also. I had to install pulseaudio on it to get my skull bluetooth speakers to interact with bluetooth application being used.

I forget if it was Blueman or Bluez. No matter. That is for another thread.

Thank you Dijetlo. I am going to put Unbuntu on. Thank you also Rokytnji for the advice.

Luckyjfl 11-05-2016 09:54 AM

Great News Guys. I downloaded the latest Unbuntu and installed it. I then went into settings and choose Razor Krakon digital and it worked like a treat. I was glad in a way, as I was not too happy in adding anything to the black screen until I get better or more used to it, lol.

Thanks again , Guys.
